This is an 8" diameter cardboard container which I have painted using acrylics.  Inside the top of the container is a sizeable padded pincushion.  I also made a scissors holder which I've pinned to the pincushion for display purposes. 

This is not only a decorative Americana box but also serves to contain sewing supplies, knitting or small sewing projects.  Or, if you are a rug hooker it could hold hooks, scissors, wool strips or snippets; handy but also a decorative display of Americana.

Patriotic Sand Pails was hooked by me using 1/4" wide wool strips and is a design by Polly Minick.  It measures 23 1/2" x 20".  The border is a combination of the stars and chevrons in deep red and navy blue.

Patriotic Hat and Stars rug is a design by Polly Minick with her wool choices and hooked by me.  It is hooked on primitive linen using 1/4" wide wool strips. 

The piece could be used as a wall hanging on patriotic holidays, a gift to someone in or just retired from the military or someone just retired from the military.

Uncle Sam may either hang on the wall or sit. He is made of cotton with felt jacket which is embellished with rusty bells.  His pants are woven cotton which has been lightly tea dyed.  His hat and feet have been painted and lightly sanded, a rusty star is attached to the front of the hat.  Sam is 24" tall, has a needle sculpted nose and  fingers.  Facial features are a combination of acrylic paint and  pigma pen. 

His hair and beard is natural curly wool locks.  The flag is handmade to look primitive and is stitched to a limb. Uncle Sam is $50 plus shipping.

Miss America on the left is holding a flag on which ' God Bless America' is stitched has been sold.  Lady America, on the right has pigtails and is carrying the US flag and she is still available.  Their bodies and clothing are made of tea dyed cotton.  Their hair is wool roving which has been stitched on. Their noses are needle sculpted with painted facial features and blushed cheeks.  Shoes have been painted on and lightly sanded.

Sam is 30 1/2" tall, may either hang on the wall or sit. His nose is needle sculpted, had black beads for eyes, primitive stitched mouth and wool roving for hair and beard.  His hat and pants have been painted and tea dyed.  He wears a cotton woven shirt which is covered with a dusty blue felt jacket.  I hardly ever use glue, but his rusty star embellishments on his jacket are glued on.  His shoes have been painted and lightly sanded.  Sam the Tax Man is my rendition of a LaCroix design.  $70 plus shipping.
